Various reports indicate that violence and harassment are rampant at the workplace, and women are the most affected.  Lawyer women serving in public service, newsrooms, and medical spaces are most affected, Advocate Harold Sungusia, a Resident Associate at MSTCDC and an advocate of the High Court, reported.

In a presentation themed 'What should be done to address Gender-Based Violence in Workplace',  Action Aid urged the Tanzanian government to sign the ILO Convention C-190 to end violence and harassment against women in various professions. Action Aid works towards ending poverty and injustice in the world.

Highlighting the magnitude of the problem in Tanzania at 0800am Breakfast Debate, People and Policies, Adv. Sungusia said women in all industries are experiencing gender-based violence.

Discussants at the monthly event organised by Policy Forum were Anabahati Mlay, Program coordinator at The Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE), and Stephen Shishira, Program officer at Women in Law and Development in Africa (WiLDAF).

"The Breakfast debate platform is essential, as we will be able to reach out majority of the campaigners in terms of policy changes in the country and attract decision makers to follow up on what has been done at the breakfast talks".
