Tanzania is facing serious environmental degradation and impacts of Climate Change: affecting climate reliant productive (agriculture, Tourism, livestock, fisheries).

Climate change, affects production in agriculture and fisheries where a income of a common citizen depends on it, also contributes to economic backwardness and poverty. Policy forum being a forum that influences people's policy to end poverty, they saw a need to provide a space to ANSAF to discuss on National Environmental Funds which address environmental challenges.

The Environmental Funds (EFs) are established to address environmental challenges for a long period of time, preferrably 10 to 20 years. They can be structured as endowerment, sinking funds, revolving Funds or either of these.

EMA 2004 Section 213.1 provides a legal framework that establishes the NEF and Cap 191 requie Climate change related activities to be executed in the country.

There is a need for a strong political- will and exercise moral obligation to conserve and manage environment as well as addressing climate change challenges.
