For people to be heard they need a tool or platform where they can air their voices. Media alone is not enough, Debate and public dialogue are necessary as it helps people engage meaningfully to be more informed and from there better plans and solutions can be derived .

There is a need for platforms to allow public engagement with public officials that help to raise public awareness and understanding on the existing policies, be more informed on what the government is doing to meet the people’s need,  also it is a platform for responsible ministries, agencies, civil society organizations to meet and see what the people really want, network and enhance strong partnership for development.

The breakfast debate has promoted strong partnership among the government and developing partners including the civil society organizations. Through breakfast debate UNA managed to train 30 SDGs champions who are representative from the Member of parliament, it also provided an opportunity to work and support PO-RALG efforts in implementing the SDGs in the national development agendas. Such platforms are necessary for the development of our nation.
